Beetroot Chocolate Macadamia Cake Recipe

This healthy beetroot chocolate cake recipe is the perfect combination of rich flavors and wholesome ingredients. Made with nutrient-dense wholemeal spelt flour, antioxidant-rich cacao powder, and naturally sweetened with honey, it’s both impressively tasty and nourishing. The star ingredients – beetroot and cold-pressed macadamia oil – provide a subtle sweetness and a boost of Omega 7s. Macadamia oil has a healthier fat profile than olive oil and even avocado oil! Whether you're looking for a guilt-free treat or a unique dessert, this recipe offers the perfect balance of flavor and health benefits.


You'll need:

125 g wholemeal spelt flour

100 g honey

40 g cacao powder

150 ml cold-pressed macadamia oil

1 tsp baking powder

3 organic eggs (size M)

1/4 tsp salt

450 g beetroot (cooked)

100 g dark chocolate

2 Tbsp of macadamia nut butter

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (upper/lower heat). 
  2. Grease a small baking pan (18cm in diameter). 
  3. Mix spelt flour, honey, cacao and baking powder. 
  4. Froth up the eggs with salt. 
  5. Grind the beetroot, melt the chocolate above a water bath. 
  6. Mix beetroot, chocolate, and oil, incorporate the flour, and finally fold in the egg mass. 
  7. Pour the dough into the pan and bake the cake for 45 minutes. 
  8. Let it cool down completely before adding toppings
  9. Decorate with fruit, caramel, macadamias and macadamia drizzle!
